About The Position

The Material Handler II position at Baltimore County Public Schools involves receiving, storing, picking-up, and delivering supplies, materials, mail, documents, and equipment under general supervision. The role requires driving various vehicles, participating in office and school relocations, and performing other assigned duties. The position is full-time and reports to the Shop Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent.
  • One year of warehousing, distribution, or related experience.
  • Possession of a valid class C Maryland driver's license or an equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains an assigned area within a storage facility.
  • Organizes, maintains, and rotates stock.
  • Assists in conducting physical inventories of stock.
  • Keeps shelves and goods clean and orderly.
  • Receives delivered items and unloads vans, trucks, and trailers.
  • Ensures the accurate receipt of items and compares delivered items with invoices.
  • Notes damages to goods received and places stocked items in their proper storage locations.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts and electric pallet movers.
  • Processes requisitions and prepares items for delivery.
  • Loads items onto vans, trucks, and trailers.
  • Delivers and picks-up supplies, materials, inter-office mail, food, and equipment throughout the BCPS system.
  • Obtains proper signatures for deliveries.
  • Operates commercial weight trucks and other vehicles on an assigned route.
  • Inspects equipment returned from loan.
  • Participates in office and school relocations, moving furniture and equipment.
  • Provides assistance to drivers and acts as a substitute driver as needed.
