About The Position

Every day, our experienced team performs diverse and complex tasks at our headquarters in Houston, Texas, to ensure that individual orders are completed professionally and on time, and that the functionality and quality of our products is being continuously improved. The Material Handler I role is responsible for incoming and outgoing materials and prepares items for internal and/or external customers so that can arrive safely and accurately at the destination to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of 1 year of related material handling experience and/or training.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related warehouse experience and/or training.
  • Minimum of 1 year of standup/sit-down forklift experience

Responsibilities

  • Examines materials for defects and sorts them accordingly if defect is found.
  • Attaches identification data onto materials.
  • In Receiving and Warehouse Locations: Unloads, unpacks, and verifies incoming materials to packing list, do visual inspection to identify transportation damage, and performs necessary systems transactions.
  • In Shipping Locations: Compares identifying information, counts, weighs, or measures incoming and outgoing materials to verify information against packing lists, bills of lading, commercial invoices, MTRs, or other records.
  • Prepares materials by stacking or packing them in boxes, crates, or on skids suitable to convey safely and securely to internal and/or external customers.
  • Follows all Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions.
  • Keeps work area neat, clean, and organized.
  • Must be able to obtain an in-house forklift certification, including use of stand-up forklift.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, procedures, and instructions satisfactorily to successfully perform assigned duties in a safe manner.
  • Ability to reconcile physical counts and computer records, identify discrepancies, and investigate or report as required.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
