The Material Handler I supports operations by storing and shipping materials at temperatures ranging from ambient (room temperature) to -196 degrees C with potentially hazardous properties.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
No previous work experience required
Able to work independently and set priorities
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Able to work as part of a team
Able to work with methods to handle, process and store specimens using a computerized storage and retrieval system
Able to work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, hazardous and infectious agents, and marked changes in temperature
Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols
Able to lift and carry 50 lbs and push up to 70 lbs
Periodically work in walk-in freezers and refrigerators for up to 5 hours per day
PIT equipment will be in use

Responsibilities

Receive incoming raw materials
Facilitate movement of materials, including hazardous materials, across the site
Maintain accurate inventory through receipts, adjustments, and cycle counts
Main job function is package movement and delivery throughout our Frederick campus
Site delivery driving, pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and accurately process items for storage and/or shipment in accordance with established procedures and customer requirements
Sustain a high level of quality to ensure customers receive accurate product and in the time requested.
Verify the quality, type and number of materials received are accurate and appropriate documentation is present (e.g. packing list).
Safely operate distribution equipment, as required
