The Material Handler/Forklift Operator is responsible for assisting in yard maintenance, shipping, receiving, and inventory management at Integrity Steel Supply LLC. This role involves operating forklifts and overhead cranes, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of materials, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

  • Build loads for delivery.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of materials when delivered.
  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording the location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
  • Operate forklift and overhead cranes.
  • Collect and properly dispose of dunnage and strapping; maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe yard.
  • Read work orders or follow verbal instructions to ascertain materials to be moved.
  • Load materials, supplies, and finished goods manually and/or using forklift and/or crane.
  • Ensure orderly distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product for final distribution.
  • Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
  • Confirm shipping details or special instructions; expedite shipments that affect the manufacturing process schedule.
  • Document product shipment by recording materials shipped.
  • Prepare finished material for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, loading, and securing product.
  • Review shipments for quality and accuracy; review accompanying documents for accuracy.
  • Resolve issues with management when problems arise.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One to three years of general labor experience.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.
  • Ability to read and interpret various documents.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
