About The Position

The Material Handler - Forklift Operator at Opus Packaging in Indianapolis, IN plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement and storage of materials within our non-durable goods manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for safely operating forklifts to load, unload, and transport raw materials, work-in-progress items, and finished goods to designated locations. The role requires meticulous attention to inventory accuracy and adherence to safety protocols to maintain a smooth production flow. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with warehouse and production teams to support timely order fulfillment and minimize downtime. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid forklift operator certification or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
• Previous experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Basic understanding of inventory control and material handling procedures.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to move materials throughout the facility safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload incoming shipments, verifying quantities and inspecting materials for damage or discrepancies.
• Organize and store materials in designated areas, maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring easy accessibility.
• Assist in cycle counts and inventory audits to support inventory accuracy and reporting.
• Follow all safety guidelines and company policies to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
• Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to prioritize material movement based on production schedules and order requirements.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs or safety concerns promptly.
