About The Position

The Material Handler supports the shipping/receiving function in the Finishing Department by staging finished and in-process goods into designated areas for prompt identification and shipment of Customer Orders in a safe and orderly manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Excellent organization and administrative skills
  • Prior experience as a material handler in a manufacturing environment required; preferably in a continuous manufacturing operation
  • Solid computer/data entry experience required; Scanner system experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of commercial forklift experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (verbal & Written communications)

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Finishing Lead to learn and master all aspects of warehouse/distribution operations
  • Assist in the unloading of finished goods that are ready to be staged for delivery
  • Verify item description and quantities noted on schedule are accurate compared to goods being staged for shipment
  • Verify FIFO inventory rotation is followed
  • Finished goods material movement
  • Adherence to maximum loading allowances of ocean containers and trucks as directed by Logistic Coordinator
  • Storage and Housekeeping
  • Material to be stored in an organized manner for ease of access, identification and inventory reconciliation
  • Clear identification and separation of finished and non-conforming (NCO) goods to ensure NCO is never shipped to a Customer unless directed by management
  • Store crating and other raw materials received from Dexter Road in designated areas
  • Support inventory staff and/or participate in weekly, quarterly cycle counts and annual physical inventory counts
  • Ensure good communication with relieving counterpart to communicate any issues experienced during shift rotation (Customer orders, inventory, safety/housekeeping, etc.)
  • Take direction from Logistics Coordinator on a daily basis
  • Secure building (alarm, lighting, lock up) at end of shift
  • Communicate with internal staff on visible issues, if any, of finished goods or other product received from Dexter Road, reporting major issues to management as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management
