About The Position

The Driver / Material Handler (Inter-Facility Logistics) plays a critical role in ensuring safe, timely, and accurate movement of material between EMIT facilities. This position serves as the link between production stages, aligning transportation with shop floor needs to maintain uninterrupted flow and on-time delivery. The Driver / Material Handler ensures materials, documentation, and communication are executed with precision to protect schedule, quality, and safety at every step

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in driving, material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required; DOT compliance experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in material handling and documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work with urgency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate across multiple teams and facilities.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Commitment to following all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Comfortable standing, walking, and moving for the duration of a shift.
  • Always use proper PPE when required.
  • Follow safety protocols when using tools, operating equipment, and handling materials.

Responsibilities

  • Execute scheduled and priority-based material transfers between facilities with high reliability.
  • Align delivery timing with production needs across Primary, Secondary, Weld, Coat, and Pack.
  • Prioritize urgent orders and requests to support customer commitments and production flow.
  • Proactively manage routes, timing, and load readiness to eliminate delays.
  • Operate company vehicles and material handling equipment in compliance with safety and DOT standards.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report issues immediately.
  • Follow all EMIT safety protocols, PPE requirements, and load securement standards.
  • Verify materials against pick lists, bills of lading, and transfer documentation before movement.
  • Ensure correct material type, quantity, and identification, including tags, heat numbers, and part numbers.
  • Communicate shortages or discrepancies immediately to prevent production disruptions.
  • Load, secure, and unload materials properly to prevent damage during transit.
  • Follow standardized methods for stacking, strapping, and spacing materials.
  • Handle materials with care using proper equipment and rigging techniques.
  • Maintain clear communication with Production, Denest, Weld Kit, and Receiving teams.
  • Provide real-time updates on transfer status, delays, or issues.
  • Adjust to changing schedules and align with daily production priorities.
  • Identify inefficiencies in routing, loading, or material flow and suggest improvements.
  • Support cost reduction through route optimization and load consolidation.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle and equipment in clean, operational condition.
  • Take ownership of equipment readiness and report maintenance needs proactively.
