About The Position

Responsible for safe, damage free and accurate handling of materials within the plant by performing the following duties. Satisfy Somic America’s Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference Somic America’s Quality Manual and Quality Policy) ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Utilize AIM to transact raw material. Supplies raw forgings to all machining lines. Supplies plated housings, totes and components to all assembly lines. Supply empty machined housings boxes and pallets to appropriate areas. Breaks down suspension raw forging boxes. Loads all pallets and wooden crates on to pallet trailer. Move finished goods to finished goods shelves or screening area. Move machined housings to shipping area for shipment. Fills all component hoppers, verifying proper components. Empty finished goods rails, verifying quality and quantity according to quality standards. Bale cardboard when baler is full. Complete duties according to standardized work procedures. Clean and organize material racks and other 5’S related activities. Operates industrial truck and cart to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Complete forklift PM’s. Submit suggestions for improvements. Maintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner. 1st Shift Material Flow Operator

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of documents such as manifests, bill of lading, correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations (Team Meetings) to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
