About The Position

Leidos is seeking a hands-on Material Expeditor who will be part of a greenfield production space currently being built on our customer's facility at the William J Hughes Tech Center in Atlantic City, NJ. This position will be supporting our Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) contract. TFDM is a hardware and software development contract to provide our nation's air traffic controllers with enhanced tools and capabilities across the national airspace system (NAS). While this position will be located in Egg Harbor, NJ, there is an extensive training period in Chesapeake, VA involved with this position. The TFDM program is opening a duplicate facility in the Egg Harbor, NJ area mimicking our current production and test facility located in Chesapeake, VA. For the first 60-90 days of employment, the selected candidate will be required to travel to and from the Chesapeake, VA area for on-the-job training (OJT). All travel expenses associated with the travel will be reimbursed. The trainee will be expected to stay in the Chesapeake area for 2-week periods with travel to/from home in between. This includes 1 weekend stay per 2-week event.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience in materials management, logistics, warehouse, or production support.
  • High school diploma with additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, carts, forklifts if certified).
  • Ability to stand and move between production, warehouse, and receiving areas throughout the shift.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance in the future should business needs require.
  • Ability to travel and work in Chesapeake, VA for the first 3 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of IT hardware or electronic components.
  • Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all parts, components, and supplies required for the production and testing of IT racks are available when needed.
  • Bridge purchasing, warehouse, and production functions by monitoring material flow, resolving shortages, and coordinating the movement of parts.
  • Track incoming and outgoing materials to support assembly and testing operations.
  • Expedite critical parts from suppliers, warehouse, or staging areas to production lines.
  • Monitor production schedules to identify potential material shortages or bottlenecks.
  • Maintain accurate records of material status in ERP/MRP systems.
  • Verify accuracy of shipments, receipts, and inventory counts.
  • Coordinate with shipping/receiving to stage and deliver materials on time.
  • Work closely with supply chain/purchasing teams to resolve late or missing orders.
  • Serve as the point of contact between warehouse, production, and test teams regarding material availability.
  • Escalate critical shortages and recommend alternatives/substitutions as needed.
  • Recommend improvements to material flow and staging processes.
  • Support 5S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality procedures when handling materials.
