About The Position

HRL Laboratories, LLC is looking for a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Material Expeditor. This role is crucial in supporting our business materials and inventory needs. The Material Expeditor will be responsible for overseeing the organization ordering process and will coordinate directly with inventory management and material kitting. The internal buyer responsibilities include driving and tracking the purchasing process from vendor quotes to submitting the required paperwork, expediting approvals to place orders, and maintaining communication with vendors to provide regular status updates and reports to program management. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to planning and ordering materials. The primary near-term objectives for this role include organizing and stabilizing the procurement backlog and processes to ensure a smooth transition within the organization as business needs evolve. General activities will involve ordering parts and supplies, tracking purchase orders, coordinating within HRL procurement systems and functions, and working closely with Inventory and Material Control. The Material Expeditor will also be responsible for generating reports for program management and ensuring the timely delivery of parts to laboratories across our campus. In this role, you will review and process purchase requests, driving the process through to purchase order placement. You will follow material procurements from order placement through to material receipt, providing regular reporting and status updates while leading supplier issue resolutions. Additionally, you will coordinate supplier communications, expedite orders, and lead issue resolution for all external procurements. Your ability to utilize, maintain, and identify improvement opportunities for tracking systems will be essential in managing the required documentation and materials throughout the procurement cycle. You will also monitor inventory levels and reorder materials as necessary to maintain optimal stock levels, support program planning of materials and components, and provide timely reporting on the status of items in the procurement system. Following detailed Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be a critical part of your responsibilities.
