What You'll Do as Supply Technician: Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders, or staffing tables, to determine personnel or materials requirements or materials priorities. Request and prepare cost estimates; check cost of materials; call vendors for material cost, availability, quantities and other information; research various catalogs and order parts, materials and equipment; receive and store materials and tools. Examine documents, materials or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications. Arrange for delivery, assembly, or distribution of supplies or parts to expedite flow of materials and meet production schedules. Compiles and maintains material and parts inventory list and provides status information to expedite movement of material and parts. Locates and distributes materials to specified work areas, and custodians manually or using handcart, hand truck, or forklift. Compiles and maintains records, such as material inventory records, parts received, stocked, and distributed parts including piece part records, manually or using a computer. Examine material received, verify part numbers, and check discrepancies, such as damaged or unmarked parts. Answer incoming calls, maintain files, and records, including purchase orders and related records. May drive truck to outlying work areas to check status of orders or to deliver materials.
