Responsible for a variety of functions within the distribution center, such as receiving, stocking, loading and unloading merchandise, picking and operating heavy-duty equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts. Do not report employees who perform one of these duties as their primary function. Typical titles include: Materials Handler, Distribution Center Generalist. Primary Job Functions This is not an exhaustive list and employees in these classifications frequently may be required to perform additional duties. Not all classifications will be required to perform all job functions. Primary duties will include delivering parts and packages received. Track shipments order materials, track material receipts, and contact vendors for information on materials. Maintain organization and cleanliness all materials areas. Unloads / loads materials to carrier’s vehicle Drives/operates a forklift Visually inspects incoming materials for damage, verifies quantity against orders. Maintains area in a neat and orderly manner and reports work hazards.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma, GED, or pass a Combined Basic Skills Test
  • Forklift Training or willingness to be trained
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record of no more than three moving violations in the past three years
  • Must be able to work effectively and efficiently both as a member of a team and independently
  • Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and assembly instructions
  • Safety and quality focused
  • Willingness to wear required PPE at all times and always work safely
  • Be available to work any shift, and be dependable and reliable to show up for scheduled work shifts including overtime, as allowed per the union contract
