As a Material Handler in Sub-assembly Light Rail at Siemens, you will play a crucial role in supporting various activities within a dynamic warehouse environment. Your responsibilities will include managing materials for production, ensuring accurate inventory, and collaborating with team members to maintain high standards of quality and safety. This position is essential for the efficient manufacturing of rail vehicles, contributing to the overall success of Siemens Mobility's operations.

  • Unload, receive, verify, and count materials delivered to the stockroom, ensuring accurate inventory.
  • Sort and kit parts according to work orders.
  • Work closely with group lead and Production Supervisor to resolve assigned tasks.
  • Collaborate with assemblers or other material handlers to perform special tasks.
  • Pack and ship materials to vendors and external customers for repair or replacement and manage returns.
  • Organize finished goods in sub-assembly and deliver to internal customers.
  • Perform cycle counts and maintain FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures for time-sensitive materials.
  • Use small hand tools and operate equipment like forklifts, pallet handlers, and hand trucks safely.
  • Be responsible for returning production fixtures to the floor.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and contribute to a safe work environment.
  • Participate in cross-training as needed.
  • Keep material in safe condition.
  • Be prepared to work overtime, weekends, or different shifts as required to meet business needs.
  • Serve as the backup group lead during their absence.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 1 year of warehouse or electrical assembler experience.
  • Familiarity with parts and stock items is a plus.
  • Good computer skills and basic knowledge.
  • Good communication ability in English, both written and spoken.
  • Valid California driver's license required.
  • Willingness to learn driving the Combi is a plus.
