Duties & Responsibilities: The Material Coordinator 2 at Viavi Solutions, LLC is responsible for the efficient and accurate movement, storage, and control of materials within the manufacturing and warehousing environment. This role ensures the timely availability of components and products to support production schedules and customer shipments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a material handling, warehousing, or logistics role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment; valid certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP/MRP systems).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and material handling.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to material handling and warehousing.

Responsibilities

  • Execute daily material handling activities, including receiving, unpacking, inspecting, and storing incoming materials.
  • Perform accurate data entry and updates in the inventory management system (ERP/MRP) for all material transactions.
  • Issue materials to production orders and work centers based on established schedules and requisitions.
  • Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventories to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Prepare materials for outbound shipments, including picking, packing, labeling, and loading.
  • Operate various material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Identify and report discrepancies, damaged goods, or quality issues related to materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and quality teams to resolve material-related issues.
  • Assist in the training and guidance of less experienced material handlers.
