About The Position

The Material Control, Emerging Talent Intern position at MABSTOA involves working within the MTA Material Control department, which manages the electronic cataloging of bus parts and non-bus parts for New York City Transit and MTA Bus Company. The intern will engage in various tasks that impact the overall supply chain operation, including supporting the zero-emissions bus fleet program and material replenishment efforts.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
• Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Strong experience with repository management.
• Strong attention to detail and timelines, with proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Matriculated in a graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA.
• Preferred majors: Business Administration or related.

Responsibilities

• Helping to manage, enhance, and streamline the process for DOB bus parts and non-bus parts electronic cataloging database.
• Reviewing and finding discrepancies and duplicates on bus parts manuals.
• Collaborating with the team on new bus parts provisioning to ensure necessary parts are entered in the system.
• Assisting in parts identification for new and current bus parts that are not yet identified.
• Acting as a vendor liaison and point of contact between the department and vendors to manage and resolve material discrepancies.
• Analyzing recycled bus parts requirements and submitting material replenishment requests to the recycle bus program.
• Processing shop rejection documentation for wrong or defective materials received from vendors.
• Reviewing and determining excess or obsolete inventory for possible sell award or scrap.
