About The Position

As a Materials and Processes Engineer at Lockheed Martin Space, you will engage in a variety of projects within both laboratory and manufacturing environments, focusing on the selection and evaluation of materials and processes critical to the development of advanced aerospace technologies. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges and contribute to the strategic defense mission of the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Material Sciences, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in materials and processes engineering.
  • Experience with metal finishing processes and organic materials such as paints and adhesives.
  • Experience in product development, improvement, design, application, and production of materials.
  • Experience in conducting problem investigations and failure analysis.
  • Ability to establish and implement technical requirements.

  • Experience working with customers and teammates.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Development and production program experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental and operational requirements for materials in missile applications.
  • Experience in various materials and process engineering disciplines.
  • Supplier auditing experience.
  • Experience in major program milestone design reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Select materials and processes for new designs to support national defense.
  • Perform technical engineering assignments related to materials and processes.
  • Troubleshoot problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials and processes.
  • Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks.
  • Evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports.
  • Coordinate with design engineering, manufacturing, quality engineering, and procurement teams.
