About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for managing inventory levels in the cage area and ensuring that all material needs for plant 2 are met based on established Min/Max levels. This includes checking inventory levels of coil, moving shift needs to the floor using a forklift, and maintaining an effective cycle counting process as per the daily schedule provided by the Production Control Supervisor. The role requires immediate cycle counts in response to negative inventory communications and daily updates based on the Parts Shortage list from the Master Scheduler. The Material Handler will also perform inventory adjustments, coordinate cycle counts, and ensure transaction accuracy for interdivisional transfers. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the cage area, providing service with components, checking for inbound material, monitoring container inventory, and supporting Material Handlers during downtime.

Requirements

  • Experience in inventory management and material handling.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory counts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Knowledge of FIFO procedures and 5S methodology.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software.
  • Certification in forklift operation.

Responsibilities

  • Check inventory levels in the cage and email material request spreadsheet to assigned personnel for all materials needed at plant 2 based on Min/Max levels.
  • Check inventory level of coil in the cell and move shift needs to the floor with the forklift.
  • Maintain an effective cycle counting process based on a daily schedule provided by the Production Control Supervisor.
  • Perform immediate cycle counts in response to negative inventory communications.
  • Add items from the Parts Shortage list to the daily cycle count log and count anything in Yellow or Red the following morning.
  • Perform all inventory adjustments daily once approved by the Production Control Supervisor and/or Logistics Manager.
  • Coordinate all cycle counts and inventory checks through relevant supervisors and managers.
  • Ensure accuracy of transactions for all interdivisional transfers of material.
  • Scan/Split and put away all material brought to the cage from the Warehouse.
  • Maintain and straighten the entire cage location, actively performing 5S.
  • Ensure FIFO procedure is followed for raw components taken out by Material Handlers.
  • Provide service with components as needed based on a list provided by tech.
  • Check the UPS/FedEx rack daily for any inbound material and receive it into the system.
  • Monitor container inventory of H&H returnable and coordinate their return to the main warehouse.
  • Remove all empty pallets and skids from the cage to the designated area using a forklift.
  • Provide Material Handlers support during downtime by splitting material into containers for production runs.
  • Fill in as a backup for Material Handler in their absence on 1st shift if needed.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Production Control Supervisor and/or Logistics Manager.
  • Actively support Health, Safety and Environmental Policies, report dangerous situations, participate in safety training, and use required PPE.
