About The Position

This is a contractor role based in New York City for the position of Pilates Instructor at Puppy Sphere. We’re looking for a confident, experienced instructor who is passionate about delivering high-quality, fitness-first classes and creating a welcoming, elevated studio experience. Our Pilates Instructors lead structured mat Pilates classes and collaborate with an Event Facilitator to deliver a seamless, well-paced experience, combining a real workout with Puppy Sphere’s signature puppy social component. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment, loves building connection through movement, and brings strong presence and energy into the room. This is a contractor, onsite role based in New York City. Weekend and weekday availability is required (Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays). Puppy Pilates is a premium, fitness-first class that combines a structured mat Pilates workout with Puppy Sphere’s signature puppy social experience; a real Pilates workout with the happiest cooldown on earth! Each 60-minute session includes a 40-minute instructor-led mat Pilates class (no puppies), focused on strength, control, and full-body toning, followed by a 20-minute puppy social, where guests can unwind and interact with the puppies. Resistance bands and weighted balls will be available for guests, and instructors may incorporate them into their classes as desired. Pilates Instructors are engaged to deliver multiple classes within a scheduled session, typically consisting of up to four classes per day. A typical session includes: Arrival approximately 60 minutes prior to the first class to support studio set-up 30-minute intervals between classes to support transitions, reset, and guest flow Up to 45 minutes following the final class to assist with wrap-up and studio reset As an example: a standard day may run approximately 8:00am – 3:15pm, depending on the studio schedule.

Requirements

  • Certified Mat Pilates Instructor (required; certification from a recognized training provider preferred).
  • Applicants must be able to provide a valid copy of their Pilates certification(s).
  • Must hold valid Professional Liability Insurance covering fitness instruction.
  • Availability to teach on weekends and weekdays (Saturday and/or Sunday and Thursdays) are required.
  • Availability to deliver a full scheduled day (typically up to four classes).
  • Experience teaching group mat Pilates classes, ideally in a boutique fitness or studio environment.
  • Confident delivering beginner–intermediate level classes with clear structure and progression.
  • Excellent communication skills, with clear cueing and the ability to support a range of fitness levels.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy, alignment, and injury prevention.
  • Comfortable around dogs and able to support a puppy-inclusive environment in a calm and professional manner.

  • Experience working in fast-paced, customer-facing environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Event Facilitators to deliver a seamless, well-paced experience.
  • Support the flow of the sessions, including transitions between workout and puppy social portions.
  • Communicate clearly with guests throughout to set expectations and guide the experience.
  • Assist with class set-up and reset, including equipment organization, cleanliness, and studio readiness.
  • Support set-up and reset between classes to maintain a smooth flow of sessions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-prepared space, ensuring all equipment is reset and ready for the next class.
  • Welcome and engage with guests to create a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment, and support the check-in process where needed (including guest flow and waiver reminders).
  • Deliver a clear and engaging welcome speech, outlining class structure, equipment use, and expectations at the start of each session.
  • Deliver engaging, instructor-led 40-minute mat Pilates classes (beginner–intermediate), focused on strength, control, and full-body toning.
  • Structure classes in line with Puppy Sphere’s class format and experience guidelines (warm-up, sculpt, peak burn, cooldown).
  • Provide clear cueing, guidance, and modifications to support a range of fitness levels.
  • Collaborate with Event Staff during the puppy social portion to maintain a safe and positive environment.
  • Provide support during the puppy social and reset phase where needed, including assisting with maintaining a clean and hygienic studio environment.
  • Foster a sense of community and encourage repeat attendance.
  • Ensure alignment with Puppy Sphere’s brand, experience standards, puppy welfare and studio guidelines.
  • Share feedback on class flow, guest experience, and overall delivery to support ongoing improvement of the Puppy Pilates offering.
