About The Position

Catholic Charities school-based clinical program is looking for a second year intern to learn and gain experience within our Community Schools model. The individual is expected to embrace the co-occurring treatment philosophy which integrates a strength-based, child/family-centered, trauma-informed, culturally competent, and recovery-oriented philosophy. The intern will have an opportunity to develop and strengthen clinical skills in the following areas: child/family assessment, treatment planning, treatment using evidence-based interventions, and discharge planning. The ideal intern has some experience or interest in working with school-age children and families, and/or familiarity with educational systems/settings. The ideal intern is passionate about trauma-informed modalities. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English/Portuguese) are strongly preferred.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Masters of Social Work (MSW) program (seeking second year placement).
  • Experience with children and families and/or with education settings is preferred.
  • Passionate about trauma-informed modalities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English/Portuguese) are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical services to school-based clients under close supervision.
  • Engage students and families in services, aiming for client treatment completion rates and increased client functioning.
  • Formulate psychosocial evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment plans in consultation with supervisor.
  • Comprehend the dynamics of human behavior, family systems, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and appropriate intervention techniques.
  • Evaluate using standardized assessment tools, such as OHIOS, PHQ-9A, GAIN-SS, and SBIRT.
  • Provide evidence-based practices, such as CBT and MI.
  • Carry out appropriate treatment plans according to best practice standards and evaluate progress throughout treatment and at termination.
  • Provide assessment and treatment through individual, family, and group treatment modalities under close supervision.
  • Adhere to professional ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff on behalf of assigned students.
  • Record case activity within required timeframes according to agency procedures and requirements.
  • Understand and follow agency policies and procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing supervision, consultation, staff meetings, and appropriate training.
  • Maintain status as an active student at an accredited school in a human services related education program.
