About The Position

Catholic Charities Community Services is currently seeking a professional, passionate individual who has an engaging supervisory style to work in our Head Start program providing leadership support to our staff and children and their families. JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Area Manager or designee, the Teacher Licensing Supervisor is responsible for providing an engaging and secure learning environment in which children can expand their knowledge and skills through a variety of experiences and interactions which form a foundation for school readiness and later school success. A Teacher Licensing Supervisor is required to demonstrate competencies needed to supervise, plan and implement high quality learning experiences, effectively implement curriculum, support a warm environment and promote progress across the standards in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework. A Teacher Licensing Supervisor demonstrates knowledge and understanding of state licensing and other applicable regulations by continually maintaining and ensuring compliance. Follow mandated reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

Provides quality supervision and management of assigned staff, in accordance with agency personnel practices.
Provides evaluation and direction to staff to promote an optimal learning environment for children.
Responsible for on-going staff supervision and regular, structured supervision meetings to maximize employee performance.
Enhances knowledge and skills through on-going feedback and interactions.
Encourages high work performance and a positive work environment.
Performs annual performance evaluation and meets with employee to discuss performance improvements.
Participate in staff recruitment process along side with WSHS recruiter.
Trains new and returning direct reports as necessary to meet the needs of the new employee’s position.
Completes frequent classroom and playground licensing compliant checks and ensures follow-up with staff for completion in a timely manner.
Replies to requests from Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) for Written Documentation of Corrections (Form CCL 324) attends enforcement meetings.
Ensures all Statute or Rules are in compliance on the Child Care Center Rules Instrument pursuant to A.R.S. 36-891-(F) Form CCL-114. (i.e., changes affecting license, posting of notices, enrollment of children, suspected or alleged child abuse or neglect; staff-to-children ratios, accident and emergency procedures, etc.).
Has knowledge and experience in child development and be familiar with the Head Start goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the purpose of supporting a developmentally appropriate preschool program.
Plans and implements designed bilingual, multicultural curriculum that advance the intellectual and physical development of children for the purpose of improving their readiness for school for children assigned to classroom.
Develops children assigned to the classroom in their: literacy, phonemic, and print awareness, understanding and use of the child’s primary language, including increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, appreciation of books, understanding of early math and science, problem-solving abilities and their approaches to learning.
Monitors children’s progress by completing all observations necessary to complete on going assessments according to the agency’s guidelines for the purpose of identifying strengths as well as possible concerns and/or delays.
Coordinates a minimum of two (2) educational field trips during the school year.
Develops lesson plans that include at least one home task and one food experience per month.
Completes developmental screenings and social/emotional screenings within 45 days of enrollment and document health information.
Utilizes information from screenings, assessments, parent in-put and child observations for the purpose of establishing child goals and plan individualized activities for children.
Provides an environment that allows for the inclusion of children with special needs and children who speak a home language other than English for the purpose of meeting individual needs of children.
Effectively serves children with disabilities and their families. Meets goals and objectives in the IEP. Makes adaptations for any disabilities.
Models use of proper English grammar for all children as well as children acquiring English as a second language for the purpose of supporting language development.
Provides home language interpretation of daily activities and events for children and/or use additional strategies when they do not speak the child’s home language for the purpose of supporting dual language learners.
Creates a welcoming, safe and developmentally appropriate environment for the purpose of encouraging the cognitive, physical, social/emotional, and language development of the child and family.
Implements emergency plan and conducts/documents monthly fire drills.
Coordinates equipment and/or facility repairs via established Company procedures; ensures timely completion of repairs to minimize any risk of injury to others and must meet state licensing requirements.
Ensures appropriate teacher-child ratios and minimum state teacher qualifications are met.
Inventories and orders needed supplies monthly
Complies with all CACFP guidelines and completes end of the month food paperwork.
Builds positive relationships with parents/guardians and encourages family involvement in center activities
Uses the Strong Fathers Strong Families (SFSF) curriculum to engage fathers and other male guardians to contribute to the education of their children through their participation in center activities
Conducts two (2) parent conferences and two (2) educational home visits for each child assigned to the classroom each academic year to build a strong home to school connection and support child/family growth and development
Maintains awareness of and contact with community based organizations and service agencies to utilize when coordinating parent conferences and meetings
Provides advocacy for participant families and links them to needed community services and resources
Provides families with information about community organizations and events and encourages their participation and further involvement in community groups and activities to promote building parents as advocates and leaders
Includes and involves parents in planning Parent Center Committee meetings and facilitates committee meetings with the Family Support Specialist (FSS)
Evaluates the needs and identifies the interests of participant families and coordinates parent education activities in support of these needs and interests
Maintains appropriate communication with and seeks out information and assistance from supervisors, managers, other Head Start staff, and parents as needed to provide services and fulfill job responsibilities
Communicates with and engages with regulatory agencies in a prompt, proactive, positive and professional manner
Works closely with other Head Start staff to promote and maintain a high level of parent participation in program activities and ensures that parents are aware of and understand the full range of options available to them in becoming actively involved in Head Start
Understands the requirements of Mandated Reporter Laws and demonstrates the importance of informing their supervisor/manager of any concerns about children and suspicions of child abuse and/or neglect
Demonstrates dependability by arriving to work on time, maintaining regular work attendance, and following program procedures when needing to be absent from work
Accepts responsibility for participating in the planning and achievement of team goals and objectives
Plays an active role in continuous self-assessment and evaluation of program services
Demonstrates an ability to adapt to changing needs, problem solve, and incorporate innovations to fulfill program requirements and improve program services
Accurately completes detailed paperwork and submits all required documentation and periodic reports within provided timelines
Maintains confidentiality of personal information and the integrity of the record keeping process
Participates in staff development activities including in-service, training sessions, and meetings as required
Identifies own training needs for the purpose of fulfilling professional development requirements and individual growth
Supports and assists other personnel in the completion of their work activities as may be required
As program needs dictate, may be called upon to fill in as a substitute in another classroom or at another site to ensure uninterrupted service delivery to children and families
Participate in and support PQI initiatives to include attending appropriate program leadership meetings and attending all relevant PQI meetings to ensure organization-wide involvement in PQI and the development of program performance measurements. Supervisors must also develop and provide appropriate staff training and support the recognition of accomplishments relative to PQI.
Promotes ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to children, families, and staff
Other duties as assigned
