About The Position
Career Success Schools is seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker (MSW) to support the social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of our students. In this role, you will work closely with students, families, and staff to remove barriers to learning and help students thrive both in and out of the classroom. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through counseling, intervention, and connecting families with critical community resources.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)
- Valid Social Work license or certification
- Experience working in a school or educational setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Strong knowledge of counseling and behavioral intervention strategies
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff
- Familiarity with community resources and social service agencies
- Understanding of child development, trauma, and mental health challenges
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and related regulations
- Excellent organization, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to student success
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual (Spanish or other languages a plus)
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations
- Experience in alternative education settings
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to support students' emotional and social development
- Identify and address barriers to student success, including attendance, behavior, and mental health concerns
- Develop and implement intervention plans, prevention programs, and workshops
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student needs
- Connect students and families to community resources (e.g., housing, food, healthcare, counseling services)
- Support at-risk students and students with disabilities
- Maintain accurate case files, documentation, and progress reports
- Make appropriate referrals for clinical or external services
- Assist in addressing school-wide concerns such as substance abuse, social adjustment, and family challenges
