About The Position

This posting will be used to fill a current vacancy in the Maintenance Division of the Airports Department within the City of Oklahoma City. An eligibility list will be established or supplemented for filling future vacancies per provisions of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Collective Bargaining Agreement.  The Master Mechanic II is primarily responsible for diagnosing equipment malfunctions, estimating repair costs, writing service orders, and providing other employees with on-the-job training related to automotive repairs and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Possession of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL).
  • Possession of a current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Automobile Certification.
  • Possession of a valid Oklahoma Department of Labor Alternative Fuels Equipment Technician License (license type based on departmental requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Appling knowledge and principles of automotive mechanics.
  • Diagnosing and providing service for various equipment malfunctions.
  • Performing major repairs on compressed natural gas, gasoline, and diesel-powered automotive equipment.
  • Utilizing knowledge of mechanics, methods, tools and techniques.
  • Exercising considerable initiative and independent judgment.
  • Communicating effectively to convey technical information to inquiring City employees and co-workers.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
