Requirements

  • A minimum of ten years trade experience.
  • Ability to select and use tools and equipment appropriate to the task.
  • Speaks, reads, and writes English to the extent required by the position.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Universal refrigeration certification is required.
  • Trade school (HVAC or plumbing courses) graduate is required.

Nice To Haves

  • NJ Plumbing License or HVAC License preferred.
  • The ability to weld is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of air conditioning systems (central and package), heating systems (water and steam), steam systems (high, medium, low pressure), temperature readings on fans and pumps, heating, cooling, and re-circulation pumps.
  • Stands in as lead in the absence of the shop supervisor.
  • Assigns workflow to the shop staff.
  • Maintains, repairs, and installs chilled water, steam, condensate, roof leader, glass acid piping and all other related piping.
  • Maintains logs and adjusts air balancing in critical areas.
  • Maintains / organizes shop stock and works with supervisor to keep shop inventory.
  • Makes rounds in all mechanical rooms, logs said rounds, monitors equipment, repairs plumbing (sinks, toilets, etc.).
  • Performs plumbing installation and repair.
  • Snakes out drain lines and sewers.
  • Troubleshoots electrical and pneumatic controls and checks air compressors.
  • Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding safety and equipment operation procedure.
  • Recommends when the equipment needs to be replaced instead of repaired.
  • Responds to elevator emergencies.
  • Performs general repair to building and equipment on assigned zone/floor as requested.
  • Performs snow/ice removal as requested.
  • Completes daily time report at end of shift.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness.
  • Understands and adheres to the Medical Center's Code of Conduct.
  • Familiar with the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.
