About The Position

Master Machinist - Forsyth, MO SUMMARY: Serve as the “machine expert” on the floor in machine setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, inspection, teardown, cleaning, and reinstalling change parts on machinery and be able to operate all production machines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time. Attendance is key to performing the job. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred and one year to three years previous experience in running Tablet Press, coating machine, and automatic encapsulating machine.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardization situations.
  • Must have manual dexterity, attention to detail and the ability to follow directions.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
  • The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate automatic encapsulating machine, semi-automatic encapsulating machine, tablet press machine, and coating machine.
  • Take capsule weights and adjust when necessary to automatic encapsulation machines.
  • Make part changeovers and make minor repairs to all machines, when needed.
  • Properly clean and prepare machines for the next formula of powder.
  • Remove, clean and reinstall proper change parts on production equipment to expedite subsequent operations.
  • Set up production equipment and assist with changes to expedite manufacturing operations.
  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with leadership, engineering, and maintenance persons to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel when required with dismantling of defective machines and equipment and assist with installation of new or repaired parts.
  • Conduct in-process inspections and visually inspect equipment parts for damage and proper cleaning.
  • Serve as a back-up for Machine Operators and training, as necessary.
  • Conduct on-the-job training on correct machine operation, setup, startup/shutdown procedures, teardown, cleanness, and quality.
  • Support corrective actions, root-cause investigations, Kaizen events, 5S activities, and CI projects.
