About The Position

Keep Fort Wayne moving! Join our Fleet Garage team as a Master Level Technician – Heavy Duty and work on a variety of city vehicles and equipment. City of Fort Wayne – Fleet Garage Position: Master Level Technician – Heavy Duty Pay: $30 – $37 per hour Schedule: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., may vary What You'll Do: Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of city vehicles, from construction equipment to fire trucks and SUVs Use diagnostic software and advanced tools to troubleshoot and repair computerized and non-computerized systems Conduct major and minor engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical repairs Assist in new vehicle make-ready service and decommissioning Provide road-side assistance for city vehicles Train and mentor Mid-Level and Entry-Level Technicians Maintain clean, safe work area and comply with all safety procedures Must-Have Qualifications: High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 12 years' experience as a skilled mechanic; or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge of heavy and light equipment, internal combustion and diesel engines Skilled with garage tools, scan tools, and mechanical diagnostics Valid Indiana driver's license; CDL B with airbrake endorsement within one year Why Join Us: Work on a wide variety of city vehicles and equipment Gain access to ASE and EVT certification opportunities fully paid by the city Join a dedicated team committed to keeping Fort Wayne moving Equal Opportunity Employer Advance your mechanical career while supporting Fort Wayne's essential services! Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 12 years' experience as a skilled mechanic; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of heavy and light equipment, internal combustion and diesel engines
  • Skilled with garage tools, scan tools, and mechanical diagnostics
  • Valid Indiana driver's license; CDL B with airbrake endorsement within one year
