Our evidence-based, culturally appropriate, trauma informed behavioral health services address the diverse needs of those we serve. FBH offers an enriching internship program for students in master’s-level CACREP counseling programs. As a comprehensive community behavioral healthcare center, FBH immerses interns in the diversity of contemporary clinical practice. Interns are placed in a program within FBH that matches their interest (e.g., counseling children/teens, adults, crisis work, etc), but are also exposed to the broad variety of community behavioral health care through being able to shadow staff in programs other than the one in which the intern is placed. As an agency that employs trauma-informed care, the recovery model, the clinician model, and integrative/collaborative care elements, the internship at FBH immerses the intern in cutting edge models of practice, making the graduate well-suited for employment in a variety of settings.

Requirements

Simultaneous enrollment in a CACREP accredited graduate social work program (counseling, mental health counseling, etc.).
Successful completion of a background check.
Attend in-person orientation.

Responsibilities

Develop clinical caseload of up to 12 individual clients, plus group(s)
Will shadow staff in programs other than the one the intern is assigned to
Learn collaborative documentation methods.
Participate in staff meetings, clinical case staffings, etc
Develop skills for professional practice, and develop “a sense of oneself” as a practitioner.
Participate in monthly intern seminars which introduce the interns to topics pertinent to contemporary social work and community behavioral health practice (integrated services, trauma-informed care, ethical dilemmas, etc)
