About The Position

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Master HVAC Technician to provide technical support to our government customer located in Ft. Detrick, Maryland. The technician will maintain technical competency of mechanical equipment, engineering principles, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), plumbing and heating systems. The technician will receive assignments with minimal instructions and may work directly with engineers, research, or testing personnel while planning and modifying systems to meet specific conditions. Responsibilities include testing, repairing, modifying, calculating, operating, maintaining, overhauling, and calibrating various HVAC systems and equipment. The technician will also troubleshoot, install, and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, as well as complex electrical systems. The role requires working in bio-containment suites and participating in safety programs. The technician must be able to respond to emergency calls during on-call periods and complete work assignments on time.

Requirements

  • MD: Master HVAC License (Unlimited) OR journeyman HVAC license with required experience.
  • EPA: Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification Certificate.
  • OSHA-Approved Forklift Operator Certification.
  • Basic Quality Assurance (QA) Training for Maintenance/Construction.
  • Ability to plan and complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and heating systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain technical competency of mechanical equipment, engineering principles, HVAC, plumbing, and heating systems.
  • Perform repair and modification to meet conditions required by technical personnel.
  • Test, repair, modify, calculate, operate, maintain, overhaul, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Troubleshoot, install, test, repair, modify, relocate, maintain, and calibrate refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot complex electrical systems and equipment.
  • Utilize air balance principles and equipment to rebalance HVAC systems.
  • Perform work in bio-containment suites and participate in safety programs.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance and service reports/logs on all equipment.
  • Interpret diagrams, drawings, technical manuals, and other instructions.
  • Respond to emergency calls during on-call periods.
