About The Position

The Master Electrician will support DHI’s Water Management service lines, including Water Transfer and Water Treatment operations in the Permian Basin. This role is responsible for coordinating, managing, implementing, and executing electrical infrastructure for field operations and headquarters-based preparation. This position is structured approximately 50% field-based and 50% headquarters-based in Odessa, Texas. Responsibilities include preparing electrical systems for upcoming jobs, executing field rig-ups, commissioning equipment, overseeing facility power distribution, and providing operational support as required. This is a hands-on, technically demanding role supporting generators, grid connections, transformers, motor control systems, PLC panels, and high-horsepower pump installations up to 500 HP. The Master Electrician will play a central role in building and maintaining a disciplined, scalable electrical and automation platform across DHI operations.

Requirements

  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Odessa, Texas.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a company vehicle.
  • Travel required within the Permian Basin region.
  • Ability to work in industrial outdoor environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Master Electrician in the State of Texas, or ability to obtain immediately.
  • Additional industrial or technical certifications are a plus.
  • Minimum 5+ years of industrial or field electrical experience; oilfield experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with 480V industrial systems.
  • Experience with generator tie-ins and transformer setups.
  • Experience with high-horsepower motors and pump systems.
  • Experience with MCCs, VFDs, and industrial motor controls.
  • Working familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and industrial safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, PFDs, and P&IDs.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), asset tracking platforms, or preventative maintenance programs is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • System-level thinking focused on long-term reliability rather than temporary fixes.
  • Ability to operate independently in field environments.
  • Clear communication and collaboration with operations, engineering, and automation teams.
  • Willingness to support both field and headquarters-based work.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical Rig-Up & Power Distribution
  • Install and commission 480V three-phase systems, including grid interconnections.
  • Connect and manage generators, transformers, switchgear, and disconnect systems.
  • Establish safe and compliant grounding and bonding systems.
  • Support temporary and semi-permanent field power installations.
  • Oversee electrical infrastructure and power management at DHI facilities.
  • Motors, Pumps & Equipment
  • Wire, install, and commission electric motors up to 500 HP.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot motor control centers (MCCs), VFDs, and soft starters.
  • Support high-capacity pump systems used in water transfer and treatment.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical faults in demanding oilfield environments.
  • Controls & Automation Support
  • Work alongside engineering and automation teams on PLC-based control systems, including Allen-Bradley platforms.
  • Assist with control panel build-out, I/O wiring, and instrumentation integration.
  • Support development, troubleshooting, and optimization of process logic systems.
  • Collaborate in standardizing electrical and controls architecture across operations.
  • Headquarters & Field Support
  • Prepare electrical equipment and panels at Odessa headquarters prior to mobilization.
  • Support field startups and commissioning activities.
  • Provide technical electrical support to active jobs as operational needs arise.
  • Maintain electrical documentation, one-line diagrams, and as-built records.
