About The Position

The Diesel Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, prepares estimates, repairs and installs mechanical services including brakes, drive line, suspension systems, air systems, air conditioning/heating and PM Services. All services are completed in compliance with DOT, procedures and 'Quality Standards' expected by Client. Technicians are responsible for consistently displaying the highest quality of work, customer service and professional representation of themselves and the company.

Requirements

• Knowledge of and experience in diagnostics and repair of air & hydraulic brakes system, steering and suspension systems, manual and automatic transmissions, drive axles and air/hydraulic systems.
• Possession of a complete set of mechanical hand and air tools, including metric sizes, up to a 1-1/2” is required.
• Strong customer service skills and a high level of professional integrity.
• Possession of valid, current driver's license.
• Must be a self-motivated and must be able to work unsupervised.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings & weekends.
• Must be able to work in all type inclement weather.

Nice To Haves

• ASE/Manufacturer/Industry specific certifications are a PLUS but not required.
• A desire to gain certifications is encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed company performance standards for quality and speed of service to our customers.
• Install and repair brakes, steering and suspension systems, transmissions and drive axles, air & hydraulic systems, diagnostic, vehicle preventative maintenance, etc.
• Pickup parts as needed for repairs as needed if porter is not available.
• Conduct vehicle inspections for mechanical services. Detect and note any conditions that would affect the safe operation of the vehicle and bring them to the attention of the service advisor.
• Routinely inspects, maintains vehicle inventory and makes necessary repairs and/or adjustments to company provided service vehicle.
• Maintain and/or repair equipment or components of the company to maintain efficient and safe work environment and/or equipment.
• Assumes a high level of responsibility to meet all DOT & OSHA requirements.
• Perform a road test to ensure that the work has been completed properly.
• Follow all safety practices as outlined by customer policy and procedures as well as by DOT & OSHA.
