About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Master Designer for our Automatic Transfer Switches product line. This role is based onsite at our manufacturing facility in Arden, NC. Relocation assistance is available for candidates currently residing in the US. This is a senior level designer position for individuals with significant design experience who have demonstrated the ability to complete projects with minimal engineering guidance. This position supports Engineered to Order (ETO/COE) designs for primarily mechanical requirements. This position requires a high degree of creativity, an outstanding working knowledge of CAD technology, drafting skills, and understanding of mechanical principles. Position will interface with other ATS Departments including MFG, Supply Chain, OPEX and Quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or an associate’s degree in engineering and four years of experience in mechanical design and drafting.
  • Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 3D Modeling/design for sheet metal, copper, etc and assemblies.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Inventor.
  • Experience or understanding of electrical wiring or schematic design.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a variety of complex drawings and bills-of-material based upon established product designs, which provides sufficient detail to accurately convey the purchaser’s equipment application and integrate into the manufacturing process.
  • Check layouts, drawings, and bills of material for completeness and accuracy. Perform necessary calculations such as: sizes, tolerances, fit, and weights as required to prove adequacy of design for sheet metal, copper, and various other material components.
  • Provide accurate drawings and/or electronic data to manufacturing personnel or outside sources.
  • Exercise a working knowledge of shop fabrication, manufacturing, machining, and assembly, and demonstrate full understanding of data input/output requirements of vendors and suppliers.
  • Design of sheet metal, copper, and various other material components for manufacturability utilizing 3D modeling. Also update labeling and wire harnesses as needed.
  • Assist in the direction of support personnel for the assembly and testing of ETO units.
  • Other duties as assigned.
