Master Control Room (MCR) Operator - (Ad Hoc/Project Based) New York
About The Position
Supporting a leading OTT streaming service, ASG is seeking MCR (Master Control Room) Operators to join our Live Streaming Operations team in New York City. The Live Streaming Operations team is responsible for managing and monitoring inbound/outbound transmission, ad insertion, feed routing, and overall video/audio/caption quality for marquee sporting events and other live content. MCR Operator will join this new and expanding team to provide master control and live operations support for a major live sporting event from 4/9-4/12, with availability on 4/4-4/6 for system training. This position will require working days, nights, and weekends, depending on the shift assigned. We are looking for a driven, self-motivated individual. The ideal candidate is well organized and can remain calm and focused under pressure.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in a Master Control Room environment
- Works well under the pressure of Live Television
- 1-3 years overall production experience
- Execute precise manual and automated transitions for commercial break entries and exits, ensuring 100% accuracy for commercial spot counts and as-run logging.
- General understanding and experience with broadcast routers, transmission systems, monitoring, playout/ad insertion, valid readers, replay, graphics, and other television technology
- Ability to read scopes and basic understanding of broadcast and streaming systems
- Team player and prepared to learn new skills, embrace and nurture a culture of change, and positive attitude
- Schedule flexibility with the ability to work late nights on Sundays.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English

Responsibilities
- Acquire and monitor all inbound video, audio, and caption feeds
- Ensure continuity of programming by confirming that live feeds are checked in correctly, including transmission “fax” checks and coordinating with remote/studio locations for any issues
- Monitor and maintain the continuity and availability of live broadcasts
- Route various signals according to booking and program schedule information
- Cue & roll slate on EVS IP Director
- Count in and out of Studio & Truck segments and commercial breaks
- With the guidance of Operation Supervisors, work as a team to promptly recover from any on-air discrepancies
- Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate to the Engineer-in-Charge or providers
- Report and document technical issues – including logging of on-air discrepancies
- Operate all broadcast equipment and technology within assigned operating areas
- Participate in special event coverage and projects as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
