About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Master Certified Marine Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a certified expert in marine systems, with Yamaha or Mercury Outboard Master Technician status (or equivalent manufacturer Master certification), responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of marine vessels and engines. This role requires advanced technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to ensure vessel safety and performance.

Requirements

  • Yamaha or Mercury Outboard Master Technician certification or equivalent Master status from major manufacturers (e.g., Mercury Marine, Yamaha, Volvo Penta).
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a marine technician/mechanic.
  • Strong knowledge of marine electrical, corrosion, systems, and engine diagnostics.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, hand/power tools, and marine-specific software.
  • High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary certification, associate degree in marine technology, or related field preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in varied environments (shop, dock, outdoors).
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in confined spaces.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record; boating license or experience operating vessels a plus.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on marine engines (inboard, outboard, diesel, and gasoline), electrical systems, fuel systems, propulsion, steering, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes, tune-ups, winterization, and seasonal preparations.
  • Inspect, test, and repair propellers, hulls, navigational equipment, HVAC, refrigeration, and other onboard systems.
  • Install and upgrade marine equipment, electronics, and accessories in compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate service records, prepare repair estimates, and order parts as needed.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by explaining repairs, offering recommendations, and educating clients on vessel maintenance.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, ABYC standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Mentor junior technicians and stay current with ongoing training and certifications.
