Day to day as a Driven & Dedicated Automotive Technician As a driven & dedicated automotive technician at Community Automotive Repair, your day-to-day expectations will revolve around providing exceptional service and quality automotive repairs. You'll begin by diagnosing vehicle issues, utilizing your technical expertise to develop repair plans that ensure customer satisfaction. Your tasks will include performing diagnosis, repair, and services on all components with proficiency. Level 3 and 4 technicians often mentor lower level technicians as well. If you happen to be a good teacher, you may be applicable to enter our mentor program and potentially be assigned a mentee as needed. We compensate for efforts as a mentor with our pay structure. You'll be expected to maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used to streamline operations and enhance communication with our team. Collaboration is key, so you'll work closely with fellow mechanics and technicians, sharing knowledge and techniques to improve efficiency and foster a positive work environment. Additionally, staying current with industry trends and best practices will be essential to succeed in this role. Does this sound like you? You'll need to demonstrate proficiency in all automotive components, which includes basic automotive skills, advanced skills, and complex problem solving. Your experience in automotive repair should span 5 plus years, your expertise with using diagnostic tools and equipment for diagnosing and repairing critical systems, including engines, transmissions, drive trains, and other advanced systems like performance upgrades, emissions, light vehicle diesel systems, Hybrid/EVs, and computer systems. Documenting a logical cause-and-effect approach to repairs is crucial for effective communication within the team. State certifications are required, and ASE certifications preferred. If you do not have ASE certifications it is expected to pursue immediately after hiring. Expected production hours per week for Level 3 and 4 technicians typically fall between 40-55 hours per week.

Requirements

Proficiency in all automotive components, which includes basic automotive skills, advanced skills, and complex problem solving.
5 plus years of experience in automotive repair
Expertise with using diagnostic tools and equipment for diagnosing and repairing critical systems, including engines, transmissions, drive trains, and other advanced systems like performance upgrades, emissions, light vehicle diesel systems, Hybrid/EVs, and computer systems.
Documenting a logical cause-and-effect approach to repairs
State certifications are required
ASE certifications preferred
Expected production hours per week for Level 3 and 4 technicians typically fall between 40-55 hours per week.
General maintenance like oil and filter service, tire mounting and balancing, alignment, and all fluid changes.
Diagnose and repair or replace components related to battery and charging systems, major engine components, coolant systems, brake systems, steering and suspension, drivetrain and powertrain, HVAC heating and cooling, exhaust components (including ability to weld).
Emissions failures, drivability diagnosis, computer, and electronic controls system analysis.
Must use and document a logical cause and effect method for recommending repairs.
Personal diagnostic tools and equipment necessary to perform functions of this skill level.
Advanced automotive diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Ability to identify root cause of the problem and then decide, plan, and act on solutions.
Must have the drive and initiative to persevere through the most difficult and complex symptoms and problems.
Understand the inter-related systems and recognize multiple, underlying, or secondary problems and failures.
Take responsibility for the decision, recommendation, and repair of the problem.
Reason and rationalize correlating symptoms or behaviors supporting diagnostic conclusions with the cause and recommended corrections.
