About The Position

The Master Auto Technician at Hawaiian Telcom is responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining company vehicles and mechanical equipment. This role involves conducting diagnostic tests on computerized systems, ensuring the safe operation of vehicles, and performing various mechanical repairs. The technician will also provide guidance to other mechanics and ensure compliance with safety inspections.

Requirements

• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull heavy items such as engines and transmissions.
• Ability to climb a ladder and stand for long periods.
• Must qualify for a valid CDL Class A State of Hawaii driver's license within the first four months.
• Must not be restricted to automatic transmission or daylight hours only.
• Ability to meet medical and driver certification requirements as established by the DOT.
• Must qualify as a State of Hawaii Safety Inspector and a DOT Safety Inspector within the first four months.
• Registered or certified mechanic's license with the State of Hawaii.
• Current certification from the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) with required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, and maintain company vehicles and mechanical equipment.
• Conduct and interpret diagnostic tests on computerized systems.
• Ensure the safe operation and availability of company vehicles for field use.
• Perform repairs on mechanical trouble, including welding and bodywork.
• Conduct safety inspections on company vehicles as per City-County/DOT and OSHA/ANSI standards.
• Provide guidance and direction to Mechanics and Mechanic Helpers.
• Perform hydraulic repairs on equipment such as forklifts and backhoes.
