The Massage Therapist is responsible for providing high-quality therapeutic massage services that promote relaxation, recovery, and overall wellness for members and guests. Requirements
- Current state licensure as a Massage Therapist (required)
- Certification from an accredited massage therapy program
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to apply appropriate pressure during massage sessions
- Comfortable working in a quiet, wellness-focused environment
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a wellness, fitness, or spa environment preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Provide professional massage therapy services, including but not limited to Swedish, deep tissue, and therapeutic massage techniques.
- Conduct client consultations to assess needs, medical history, and wellness goals.
- Customize sessions to meet individual client needs while ensuring safety and comfort.
- Maintain appropriate draping, sanitation, and professional boundaries at all times.
- Create a welcoming, calming, and inclusive environment for all clients.
- Educate clients on wellness, recovery, and self-care practices when appropriate.
- Build positive relationships to support member retention and engagement.
- Maintain accurate client records and session notes in accordance with YMCA policies.
- Manage scheduling, punctuality, and time management for all appointments.
- Ensure treatment rooms are clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Follow all YMCA policies related to safety, confidentiality, and risk management.
- Adhere to all state licensing requirements and professional standards.
- Maintain current certifications and continuing education as required.
- Ensure proper sanitation and infection control procedures are followed.
