About The Position

The Hospice Massage Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic massage services to hospice patients in their homes or care facilities. This role focuses on enhancing comfort, reducing pain and anxiety, and improving quality of life through compassionate and appropriate massage techniques that align with individualized care plans. The therapist works in collaboration with the interdisciplinary hospice team to support patient-centered goals during end-of-life care.

Requirements

  • Current and active Indiana license or certification in Massage Therapy required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience as a massage therapist required
  • Knowledge of therapeutic massage practices, anatomy, and contraindications for medically complex patients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to various home and facility settings.
  • Must have valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • hospice or palliative care experience preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver therapeutic massage services tailored to each hospice patients needs and physical condition.
  • Adapt massage techniques appropriately based on patient diagnosis, contraindications, and preferences.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (nursing, social work, chaplaincy, aides, etc.) to ensure massage therapy supports the patients overall plan of care.
  • Document massage therapy sessions and patient responses in a timely and accurate manner, per agency standards.
  • Educate patients, caregivers, and families on the role and benefits of massage in hospice care.
  • Maintain proper hygiene and sanitation of equipment and supplies at all times.
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition to the clinical team.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, in-services, and training as required.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA regulations.
  • Travel to patient locations across assigned service area.
