About The Position

As a Mass Properties Engineer III, you will lead complex mass properties projects, providing technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers. You will play a critical role in ensuring the success of aerospace systems by delivering accurate and reliable mass properties data. The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations – with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • General knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Exposure to Computer Aided Engineering tools.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design & development teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering.
  • Knowledge of industry standard aerospace principles, to include, but not limited to, parametric design, model-based definition, fundamentals of flight mechanics.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, US Department of Defense and/or US Military.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the calculation and analysis of mass properties for advanced aerospace systems.
  • Develop and validate mass properties models and simulations.
  • Inventory and weigh aircraft.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Review and approve mass properties documentation and reports.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure milestones are met.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate mass properties into broader project goals.
