About The Position

Under general supervision, performs skilled masonry work in the construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of structures and related items; and performs related work as required.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Four (4) years of experience as a journey-level mason.
Possession of a valid Nevada Driver’s License.
Must be able to demonstrate ability to perform essential functions of the job.
Some knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in masonry work.
Some knowledge of the principles of structural design.
Ability to read and work from blueprints, drawings and specifications.
Ability to estimate time and materials required for assigned jobs.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
Ability to operate a variety of equipment such as cement mixers, power saws, and other related equipment.

Responsibilities

Constructs, alters, maintains and repairs walls, sidewalks, curbs, floors, steps, partitions, manholes, and other related brick, block or stone structures and surfaces.
Mixes mortar and concrete to proper consistency.
Sets forms and lays brick, block or stone to line, grade and blueprint specifications.
Cuts brick, block and stone to required shapes and sizes.
Patches and repairs concrete surfaces.
Lays out work.
Estimates time and materials required for assigned jobs.
Operates a variety of equipment such as cement mixers, power saws, and other related equipment.
Maintains tools and equipment.
May perform related duties in other trades.
