Mason City Schools' Learning Experience Designers (LEDs) are teachers on special assignment who are catalysts in ensuring Mason City Schools offer innovative learning environments of choice for students and families and that we are recognized as an excellent place for educators to learn and grow. LEDs are cross-curricular, district-wide team members who support teachers, teacher leaders, and administrators within a specific grade-level span. They are responsive to building and district needs, identifying and implementing strategic, innovative, research-grounded responses to identified opportunities. Mason City Schools is committed to ensuring each and every Comet discovers their purpose and potential through exciting endeavors such as the launch of personalized professional learning pathways to empower every staff member, the development of student portfolios to celebrate growth and reflection, and the exploration of interdisciplinary pathways that spark creativity and innovation. LEDs will be at the heart of these efforts, leading the way in bringing these impactful projects to life. This position is a role that requires up to a three (3) year commitment. Every three years, this position is evaluated and revised, as needed, to ensure its continued alignment with the district's vision, values, and needs. At the conclusion of each three-year cycle, the position is re-opened for applications. LEDs who do not continue in the role may move into other leadership positions or serve as an educator in a model classroom.
