About The Position

The position is for a Substitute Special Education Aide & Specialized Classroom Aide at Mason City Schools. The role involves supporting students in various curriculum tasks under the supervision of an intervention specialist teacher. The aide will work one-on-one or with small groups to reinforce material introduced by the teacher and assist in various clerical duties. The position also requires implementing teacher-directed interventions, assisting students with self-help skills, and documenting pupil performance. Additionally, the aide will assist with toileting needs and work with students who have medical requirements.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to pass a BCI&I and FBI criminal background check.
• Must be willing to apply for an Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Supports the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping, but not teaching.
• Under supervision of the intervention specialist teacher, works one on one or with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Performs clerical duties such as running copies, putting up bulletin board, preparing materials, etc.
• Implements teacher-directed interventions to support pupil performance objectives.
• Assists students where necessary in accomplishing self-help skills and gradually decrease support as appropriate.
• Assists in documentation of pupil performance.
• Assist in toileting needs, including diapering.
• Will work with student(s) who has medical needs which could include tube feedings, insulin testing, etc.
• Other Duties as Assigned
