About The Position

The Mason City Schools is seeking a Special Education Aide for Mason Elementary School. This position involves supporting students in various educational tasks under the supervision of an intervention specialist teacher. The aide will work one-on-one or with small groups to reinforce material introduced by the teacher, assist with self-help skills, and perform clerical duties. The role also includes assisting students with medical needs and documentation of pupil performance.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to pass a BCI&I and FBI criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Supports the student(s) in recitation, reading, and other curriculum tasks, guiding and helping, but not teaching.
• Under supervision of the intervention specialist teacher, works one on one or with small groups of students to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
• Performs clerical duties such as running copies, putting up bulletin board, preparing materials, etc.
• Implements teacher-directed interventions to support pupil performance objectives.
• Assists students where necessary in accomplishing self-help skills and gradually decrease support as appropriate.
• Assists in documentation of pupil performance.
• Assist in toileting needs, including diapering.
• Will work with student(s) who has medical needs which could include tube feedings, insulin testing, etc.
• Other Duties as Assigned.
