About The Position

In the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, as a limited duration employee, performs one or more of a variety of tasks and assigned duties of a seasonal nature. Positions available include Ticket Booth Attendants, Office Supervisors, Interpretive Guides, Maintainers, Crew Leaders, Park Maintenance Supervisors, Campground Office Staff, Campground Supervisors, Park Rangers, and Park Ranger Supervisors. Each position has specific duties and responsibilities, primarily focused on providing support and services in state parks and campgrounds during the busy season from mid-April to mid-October, with some roles starting as early as mid-February and extending to mid-November.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Completion of new-hire paperwork including providing a state-issued ID and acceptable documents for Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9 form).
  • Completion of a background check including employment, criminal, and motor vehicle review.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retail and/or customer service for Ticket Booth Attendant and Campground Office Staff.
  • Extensive experience in outdoor recreation management for Office Supervisor and Park Ranger Supervisor.
  • Experience or education in the natural sciences for Interpretive Guide.
  • Experience in custodial work, landscaping, or a related skilled trade for Maintainer and Crew Leader.
  • Experience with maintenance of a recreational facility for Park Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Experience in campground management for Campground Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Provides general ticket booth services including ringing up and accepting parking fees, selling season passes, greeting park visitors, providing directions, checking in buses, and answering questions about the park.
  • Oversees office operations, resolves complaints, trains and supervises ticket booth attendants, and acts as the primary visitor contact.
  • Conducts interpretive programs to enhance public understanding and appreciation of natural resources.
  • Performs maintenance tasks such as litter pickup, cleaning, mowing, raking, and painting.
  • Supervises a crew of seasonal maintainers and assists in job planning and preparation of materials.
  • Assists in the maintenance of recreational facilities, trains and supervises seasonal maintainers, and performs skilled trades work.
  • Provides general camp office support services including registering campers and collecting fees.
  • Manages campground operations, resolves complaints, and oversees camp office staff.
  • Acts as primary visitor contact and assists with operational, maintenance, and protective duties.
  • Supervises seasonal park rangers and assists in managing seasonal operations.
