About The Position

The Rehabilitation Specialist role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Residential Rehabilitation Program (RRP) and Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP-A) for adults. Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Programs, this position is responsible for providing clinical oversight, monitoring client progress, scheduling medical appointments, and developing individualized Residential Rehabilitation Plans. The roles also include being an active participant in recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff to ensure the effective delivery of services.

Requirements

  • Licensure and Certification: Hold and maintain a Maryland license as a mental health professional (LICSW or LCPC) or certification by relevant associations, such as the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CPRP) or the National Therapeutic Recreation Society.
  • Education: A Master's Degree in rehabilitation counseling, psychiatric rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, psychology, social work, therapeutic recreation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Experience in providing individualized services to individuals with mental illness, including treatment planning, client assessment, provision of rehabilitative services, monitoring of service delivery, and clinical documentation.
  • Skills: Proficiency in clinical documentation, monitoring of service delivery, and the ability to provide individualized services to persons who are mentally ill.
  • Driving and Transporting Clients: Driving and/or transporting clients, when necessary, is a responsibility of the position. A valid driver's license and vehicle liability coverage are required and must be maintained.
  • Driving Requirements: This position requires driving a company and/or personal vehicle. Must be privileged to drive according to the criteria set forth by Agency MVR guidelines.
  • Background Checks: Acceptable criminal background check, negative drug screening, and negative tuberculosis screening are required.
  • Certifications: CPR/First Aid Certification must be acquired and maintained once employed.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing Staff: Supervise a staff of three to five non-licensed individuals. Conduct bi-weekly supervision with direct reports.
  • Review Individualized Residential Rehabilitation Plans: Review and when necessary, assist in creating plans[JM1] tailored to the needs of individuals with chronic mental illness, in compliance with state and agency policies and procedures.
  • Implementing Policies and Procedures: Ensure program compliance with state regulations and organizational policies.
  • Performing Quality Audit Reviews: Conduct regular audits to ensure the quality of services provided.
  • Acting as a Liaison: Serve as a liaison and consultant to residential providers, mental health professionals, medical staff, community agency workers, family, care providers, and others involved in program planning and conflict resolution.
  • Evaluating Client Performance: Assess client performance and make recommendations for referrals.
  • Participating in Service Delivery: Coordinate services with internal and external providers, participate in joint planning, assessment, and service delivery.
  • Providing Crisis Intervention: Offer crisis intervention services as necessary.
  • Collaborating with Advisory Groups: Work with advisory groups and human service planning agencies to develop and improve service opportunities.
  • Conducting Pre-Screen Assessments: Perform pre-screen assessments to determine client eligibility for services.
  • Maintaining Client Records: Establish and maintain client records as required by regulating agencies.
  • Contributing to Fee Determination and Billing Processes: Participate in the fee determination and billing processes and in the collection of fees.
  • Participating in Meetings: Attend in-house, program, staff, and training meetings as required.
  • Serving as a Liaison for Clients in Inpatient Facilities: Act as a liaison for clients temporarily being served by inpatient facilities or detention centers and participate in the development of aftercare plans.
  • Developing Discharge Plans: Create discharge plans and provide follow-up services as required.
  • Performing Additional Duties as Assigned: Carry out other duties as required.
