DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Duties include but are not limited to: 1. Observes operating conditions of plant equipment as reflected by instruments, gauges, controls and visual observation. Takes periodic readings reflecting performance of equipment, records data, runs required tests, interprets results and makes necessary corrections. 2. Makes adjustments and corrections, as necessary, to ensure equipment is operating properly, and places equipment in service and removes equipment from service as required or as directed. Performs hydrostatic tests as required. 3. Performs other specific duties, such as: admits hydrogen to the generators and maintains generator pressure; admits warm-up or ignition torches into the furnace, checks and regulates boiler blow-downs, etc. 4. Works with other personnel and performs work on energized conductors and equipment up to the unit interconnection point to the power grid in accordance with applicable safety rules and approved work procedures. 5. Tests, inspects, lubricates, cleans, and maintains all equipment, diagnoses trouble and makes repairs. Performs equipment installation and alignment on equipment such as turbines, generators, FD, ID, gas re-circulation fans and other electrical motors and couplings. Performs machining duties of all types requiring the highest level of skill including but not limited to seats, discs valve stems, etc. 6. Operates equipment such as gantry cranes, hydraulic/ friction cranes. Operates man lifts, trenchers, skid loaders, backhoes and forklifts. 7. Performs work from self-supporting structures of any height including full boiler scaffolding. Erects and performs work from hanging scaffolds, spiders, or similar support devices. 8. Performs carpentry, concrete, and excavating work. Performs repairs such as painting, concrete repair, etc. on vaults and manhole steel, pad-mounted transformers, streetlight standards. 9. Performs all rigging in the erection, assembly, and disassembly of structures, power transformers, pumps and motors, and turbine/ generation equipment, etc. Performs layout of conduit and pipe systems on air, water, steam, oil, electric, and gas lines, etc. as defined on drawings, sketches, or specifications with limited direction. 10. Installs, assembles, maintains, and aligns high-speed switching devices, large power transformers, high voltage and low voltage switchgear, and associated equipment. 11. Directs and performs work to repair and maintain and or replaces rails, switches, ties, etc. 12. Prepares work packages and performs planning related duties using computer- based systems pertaining to the work. 13. Tests, inspects, repairs, replaces, overhauls, and installs all types of simple or complex circuits and equipment, including building and repair of splices and terminations on all types of cable, switches, circuit breakers, bushings and relay & controls. 14. Directs and performs work to diagnose trouble, using diagnostic test equipment, analyzing and interpreting results and make repairs. Overhauls electric motors. 15. Performs work using approved rubber glove and sleeve methods on energized conductors and buses. Installs and removes temporary safety grounds. 16. Performs stress relieving. 17. Performs work and directs others in the installation and maintenance of relay and control systems where such systems are energized and in service while protecting and controlling load as it pertains to traditional electrical duties at Martins Creek. 18. Uses Energy Control Processes and or holds clearance orders in performance of the above-mentioned work. Performs switching and blocking required by clearance orders on mechanical and electrical equipment under the direction of the SOR. 19. Completes paperwork associated with job duties. 20. Performs general clean-up work including asbestos, steam cleaning, parts cleaning, vacuuming, and hydro lasers. 21. Performs insulation removal and installation. 22. Inspects and recharges fire extinguishers. 23. Ability to attain NERC clearance. 24. Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
