About The Position

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Martial Instructor to teach various Martial Arts classes for individuals ranging from preschool to adult. This position is under the direction of the Associate Executive Director of Sports and is focused on maintaining the quality of programs while creating learning opportunities for participants. The ideal candidate will be motivated to help others and contribute to the community's well-being.

Requirements

  • Black Belt or equivalent (Strongly preferred)
  • First Aid and CPR certification required within 90 days of employment
  • Experience working with kids.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and explain basic Martial Arts skills being taught.
  • Work at the learning level of the particular class.
  • Prepare the teaching area with necessary equipment and return equipment to proper storage after class.
  • Work with individuals and groups within a class structure to correct faults, improve self-image, and progress abilities.
  • Keep class attendance records.
  • Follow designated curriculum for classes to ensure basic components are met and set standards for progression are followed.
