About The Position

Barron's is seeking a markets reporter to cover equities, fixed income, currencies, and commodities. This is a core reporting role where markets journalism is central to the publication. The ideal candidate is a sharp, curious financial journalist expected to break news, develop sources, and produce authoritative analysis on deadline, ranging from short market briefs to longer features.

Requirements

Knowledgeable about equities, fixed income, currencies, and commodities
Ability to translate complex market dynamics into clear, compelling journalism that serves both sophisticated investors and general readers
Driven by strong news instincts and a feel for timing—knowing when a story needs to move fast and when it warrants deeper reporting
A fluid writer who can shift between short digital updates and longer analytical pieces without losing authority or precision
Skilled at cultivating and maintaining sources across Wall Street, asset management, and corporate finance
Comfortable working with data and collaborating with designers on charts and visualizations that sharpen a story's argument
Energized by the pace of daily markets coverage while keeping longer-term stories in motion
Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial journalism
Demonstrated track record of markets coverage
Submission of a resume, cover letter, and no more than 3 clips in PDF

Responsibilities

Develop sources
Produce authoritative analysis on deadline, whether that's a 300-word market brief or a 1,500-word feature
Translate complex market dynamics into clear, compelling journalism that serves both sophisticated investors and general readers
Cultivate and maintain sources across Wall Street, asset management, and corporate finance
Work with data and collaborate with designers on charts and visualizations that sharpen a story's argument
Engage in the pace of daily markets coverage while keeping longer-term stories in motion
