About The Position

Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinator Overview: Contribute to the success of Honest Weight Food Co-op by collaborating with and providing support to the Identity and Mission-Based Teams, in particular, to the design team, Education Specialist, Outreach Specialist, Member-Owner Coordinator, and Marketing Managerin the production and design of print, signage, digital and social elements. Provide hands-on support in the planning and execution of in-store classes and events. Status: Full-time, hourly, 40 hours per week, based on business demands, $25.00/hour Supervisor: Marketing Manager

Requirements

  • Understanding of and passion for the natural foods industry
  • Experience with and/or passion and interest for the cooperative business model and cooperative values
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • The ability to multi-task and succeed in a deadline driven environment
  • Solid understanding of brand guidelines
  • Solid understanding of basic advertising, marketing principles
  • Experience designing print and digital in quick-turnaround deadline-driven environment
  • Familiarity with both Mac (and PC) computing platforms
  • Above average proficiency in Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proven working knowledge of various social media (platform differences, specific design needs)
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to pay attention to details and focus on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work (think and produce) both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to consistently and safely lift & carry up to 35lbs. Must be able to push and pull carts weighing up to 100lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Education or training in graphic design, visual arts, communications or related field

  • (any/all on-the-job work experience will also be considered)
  • Experienced and comfortable collaborating and working with internal and external teams
  • Previous experience working with website Content Management Systems
  • Basic knowledge of website design and familiarity with use and maintenance of blogs
  • Above average digital photography/video skills
  • Illustration and hand lettering skills experience a plus
  • Ability to tweak, re-work existing copy and/or write basic headlines copy for print, social as needed.
  • Above average experience with social media (planning, measuring, strengths/weaknesses, ad buying)
  • Experience with animation, video (creation, content, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut)

Responsibilities

  • Design print direct mail, newspaper, magazine ads and various collateral materials
  • Design signage (promotional, shelf level, institutional, digital menu boards)
  • Design/produce as needed for website, email campaigns and social media
  • Assist with production/design of in-store weekly/bi-weekly promotions (flyers, signs, handouts) as needed
  • Produce and/or design content for HWFC's Coop Scoop bi-monthly magazine
  • Re-purpose, refresh existing graphics, materials
  • Actively and optimistically participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions
  • Assist in creation of/ordering of on brand in-store materials/supplies?
  • Assist with Education, Outreach and Membership materials as needed (posters, brochures, register screens, handouts)
  • Collaborate with the marketing team and the operations team (department managers, department staff) to ensure that HWFC social and digital media platforms are regularly fresh, exciting and increasingly relevant
  • Seek out new and interesting products and initiatives store-wide to feature on social platforms
  • Collaborate with store departments on social content regularly
  • Create easily accessible channels for store departments to submit items and initiatives they want featured
  • Provide support organizing and setting up store events (education, outreach, demos, mission-based and membership) as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Education Specialist to ensure that in-store events run smoothly and are an overall success
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
