About The Position

The Public Relations Specialist for SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando supports the Director, Public in shaping and promoting the park's brand and initiatives. They develop and execute strategic publicity campaigns to support business goals and enhance visibility. Responsibilities include writing press materials, handling media inquiries, managing media relations tools, and coordinating hosted media events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Mass Communications, Journalism or related field required.
  • At least 3 years practical experience in public relations or marketing communications
  • Outstanding written, verbal and visual communications skills and ability to convey messages clearly and persuasively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to understand a strategy and use critical and creative thinking to achieve the desired outcome
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, be able to handle change and be able to perform well under pressure
  • Availability to occasionally work varying hours based on business need, to include opening nights, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • 3 - 4 years of experience in communications or journalism
  • Prior experience at a theme park or accredited zoological facility preferred
  • Prior experience at a news organization preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute publicity campaigns to achieve the parks' business goals/objectives and enhance the brand
  • Track media coverage and create robust reports for internal leadership
  • Process media ticket requests
  • Respond to inbound media inquiries in a timely manner
  • Manage Public Relations inbox, maintain online media relations webpage
  • Support the Social Media team with managing influencer visits and requests
  • Write press releases, media alerts and other written communications for public consumption
  • Build and maintain media relationships in key source markets and throughout Florida
  • Participate in in-studio media appearances, on-site media visits hosted media events
  • Be comfortable in front of the camera and liaising with members of the press
  • Perform with a positive attitude and team focus while being results and deadline oriented
  • Serve as a key player in the annual marketing planning process including new attractions, shows, events, culinary, and other park initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
