The University of Wyoming is seeking a Marketing & Communication Specialist to provide leadership in the design and development of marketing and public relations strategies. This role is crucial in creating a strategic marketing and public relations approach that integrates all marketing efforts, including the website, social media presence, publications, advertising pieces, multimedia/video pieces, and communications/press releases. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting research and economic development activities to both the University community and the general public, ensuring that institutional priorities are effectively communicated. In the realm of external communications, the specialist will assist in strategic planning and conduct comprehensive institutional campaigns based on the University’s priorities. This includes responding to queries about external communications planning, conducting interviews, and developing strategies for building relationships with local, regional, and national media. The role also involves coordinating with the UW communications team to develop electronic media kits and ensuring that emergency communication systems are utilized effectively. For internal communications, the specialist will develop and execute a strategic communications plan to share research and economic development news with University constituencies. This includes maintaining a daily planning calendar, updating websites with internal news, and coordinating with team members to disseminate important information such as Honor Rolls and Graduation lists. The specialist will also supervise and coordinate media coverage of special events, ensuring that all communications align with institutional priorities. The position requires a proactive approach to community relations, including planning and coordinating media functions and public relations efforts for various University events. The specialist will be expected to stay current with industry changes in media relations and perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall mission of the University in promoting its teaching, research, and service initiatives.
