About The Position

A paid Summer Intern in the Marketing Department is designed for students to delve into the world of marketing within the freight transportation sector. This immersive experience provides interns with a hands-on opportunity to work on strategic projects, engage in market analysis, and contribute to promotional campaigns while gaining a comprehensive understanding of the logistics and transportation industry's marketing dynamics. Under the mentorship of seasoned marketing professionals, interns will develop critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills, preparing them for a successful career in marketing. Successful Interns may be hired as full-time Management Trainees upon graduation.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States and will be at least eighteen (18) years old upon hire.
  • Does not require BNSF’s assistance, now or in the future, to obtain, maintain, or extend employment authorization.
  • Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree in Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business or Supply Chain Management OR a similar degree program from an accredited university.
  • Have and will maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
  • Have LESS THAN three (3) years of professional work experience, EXCLUDING internships, part-time jobs, or positions held while pursuing my undergraduate and/or graduate degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior intern experience or less than 3 years of work experience in Marketing, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a Supply Chain related field.
  • Have or have held a leadership position in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization.
  • Pursuing a degree in Marketing (B2B) or Industrial Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Gain knowledge of the Marketing department, the BNSF network, and its internal systems & applications in the Customer Support Department.
  • Lead projects within a Marketing business unit (Industrial Products, Agricultural Products or Consumer Products) intended to enhance the customer experience, identify market trends, improve, or grow current business strategies, and create efficiencies in current processes.
  • Develop an understanding of BNSF's current business strategies, relevant markets and identified opportunities.
  • Conduct research leveraging internal and external sources and analyzing data to identify trends.
  • Learn Marketing systems and current process flows.
  • Interact and communicate with a team, leaders, and customers.
  • Create recommendations based on analysis and communication to various levels within the department.
  • Identify and implement new process flows or automations to current processes.
  • Possess leadership, teamwork, clear communication, adaptability, and resilience to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
